First of all, let me send along a heart-felt congratulations to the Netroots Nation staff for making this year's event a smashing success. I attended the last YearlyKos in Chicago and was impressed then, but this year you managed to out-do yourselves.
Now to the thanks.
I guess the thanks goes to the entire Netroots community for all the work you do to hold the media, Congress and the administration accountable. I know I'm repeating what Al Gore, General Clark, Howard Dean and many others said so well, but it is worthy of that repetition.
Thank You.
I also want to thank Timroff, et al for putting together the Netroots for the Troops project. Brandon Friedman and I were proud to be a part of the effort. We had a great time working with volunteers filling boxes for our troops. As one who served on the mean streets of Baghdad, I can tell you that your efforts will be appreciated by everyone who receives your packages. It goes beyond the things that are in the boxes. It reminds soldiers that they are not alone and that there is support from people back home. And that is incredibly important.
Thanks again to all who participated.
Your energy and sense of service is something we have made front and center in our campaign. We have a Call to Service page on our web site that asks people to not only support our campaign, but to lead by example by giving back to their community by volunteering, or entering service programs or professions.
This sense of service seems to live in the heart of the Netroots community, and that is one reason I was so pleased to be a part of the convention for the past two years.
We have a difficult primary race coming on September 9th, and I'd like to ask everyone to read about our campaign at the Powers for Congress web site, and help out in any way you can.
Thank you for all the work you have done and continue to do...and for all your support.
Together we can all lead by example. Together we have the power to change Washington.
